Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS) is a tribally owned, integrated health system serving over 10,000 Native Americans across more than 10 locations in Nebraska and Iowa, anchored by Twelve Clans Unity Hospital, a 13-bed, CMS-certified facility. When WCHS set out to implement an integrated EHR across its hospital and ambulatory clinics, Purpose Health delivered the MEDITECH Expanse expertise it needed through a cost-effective, remote implementation model.
Implementing an integrated EHR across a hospital and its ambulatory clinics requires substantial operational resources to architect, design, build, and train teams on the new platform. WCHS had a strong internal team, but delivering comprehensive, culturally centered medicine across acute care, primary and preventive care, and public health programs left little capacity to spare. It needed supplemental consulting and advisory support from a partner with deep MEDITECH Expanse implementation experience and a cost-effective delivery model.
We created and managed a remote framework for real-time, scheduled collaboration, minimizing the need for on-site visits while keeping every workstream moving.
We served as project leadership and subject matter experts in clinical providers, emergency department, pharmacy, and ambulatory workflows.
We reviewed current-state workflows against the future state in MEDITECH Expanse, meeting weekly with the MaaS application specialists and WCHS core team to align changes with organizational goals.
We reviewed integrated testing plans and organized follow-up and resolution of identified issues to keep the project on track.
We tracked issues, attended integrated workflow discussions, and created the strategy to resolve those identified during go-live.
Proven tools, methodologies, and technologies delivered the project to plan.
